European Award for Outstanding Customer Experiences in Retail
The reta awards are presented annually by the EHI Retail Institute and rank among the most important technology awards in European retail. An international jury of experts from retail, business, and academia evaluates the submitted projects based on their degree of innovation as well as their strategic and economic benefits.
In each category, three winners are honored on an equal basis. Technology partners of the awarded retail companies receive the title “Top Supplier Retail 2026” in recognition of their contribution to the successful implementation of the solution.
The award ceremony took place on February 23, 2026, during a festive evening event held as part of EuroShop, the world’s leading retail trade fair. BIZERBA was also represented at the event with its own exhibition booth.
Digital Pre-Ordering and AI Create a New Service Experience at the Fresh Food Counter
The award was presented for the combination of the digital pre-ordering solution MyOrder and an AI-based object recognition system, integrated into BIZERBA’s weighing infrastructure at the fresh food counter.
Customers can conveniently pre-order fresh products such as meat, cheese, or deli items at a kiosk directly in the store. Orders are transmitted to the counter in real time and seamlessly integrated into existing workflows. Waiting times are reduced, peak periods are better managed, and the overall shopping experience becomes noticeably more convenient.
In addition to digital pre-ordering, AI-supported object recognition is used in traditional assisted service at the fresh food counter. During the weighing process, placed products are automatically identified. Manual input is eliminated, error rates are reduced, and employees gain more time for personal customer consultation. By combining both approaches, the fresh food counter evolves from a traditional service point into a digitally supported service hub that increases operational efficiency while strengthening customer engagement.
