Bizerba at Seafood Expo Global 2025 – Showcasing Smart Solutions for Fish Processing

Balingen, 16/04/2025

| Bizerba, a globally leading solutions provider for weighing technology, labelling, inspection, and industrial software, will present its extensive range of products and services for the first time at the leading trade show in Barcelona. From 6th to 8th of May, 2025, the company will showcase in Hall 3, Stand 3LL803, cutting-edge end-of-line technology that is specifically tailored to meet the high requirements of fish and seafood processing – with a focus on product safety, traceability, sustainability, and efficiency.

Tailored Solutions that Make a Difference in Seafood Processing

Fish and seafood are among the most sensitive food products of all. Their processing presents particular challenges for manufacturers with high hygiene standards, strict traceability requirements, demanding packaging formats and increasing demands for sustainability. Added to this are extreme conditions such as moisture, cold, and salt, which require high-quality and durable materials, robust components and a hygiene-optimised design.

“The seafood industry clearly shows how essential it is to offer tailored solutions,” says Fred Köhler, Managing Director of the Business Unit Industry at Bizerba. “Our systems are designed precisely for these challenges – from hygienic construction and precise quality control in the production line to intelligent labelling with 2D codes.”

Setting a New Standard for Industry Efficiency

At the center of Bizerba’s presence in Barcelona is a simple yet critical question - How can modern technology make seafood production smarter, safer, and more resource-efficient? Bizerba responds with a future-ready solution portfolio tailored to the industry’s specific needs. Its modular systems are designed for seamless integration into existing environments, creating real value across the entire end-of-line process.

Live Demonstrations of Real-World Applications

At Hall 3, Stand 3LL803, visitors will experience hands-on demonstrations of Bizerba's industrial solutions in action – demonstrating how they deliver safety, efficiency, and resource conservation in industrial seafood processing. From multi-lane checkweighing, leak and seal inspection, to sustainable linerless labelling with CleanCut®, Bizerba technology proves how performance and precision go hand in hand.

“Our tailored, customer-focused technologies show how product safety, traceability and sustainability can be combined seamlessly to meet the highest demands of the seafood industry,” Köhler adds.

Bizerba Tackles Key Industry Challenges Head-on
  • Tough Production Environments:
Corrosion-resistant materials and robust designs ensure long-lasting performance, even under extreme conditions.

  • Freshness & Hygiene:
Real-time inspection and automatic rejection of faulty products protect both consumers and manufacturers. Devices designed for efficient cleaning also support the highest hygiene standards.

  • Controls & Compliance:
Through centralised evaluations, real-time reporting, complete traceability and reliable inspection solutions, Bizerba supports audits in accordance with recognised food safety standards such as IFS, BRC, or HACCP.

Bizerba Product Highlights

Vision-based product inspection using X-ray and camera technologies as well as checkweighers: 100% in-line inspection in the production line ensures uncompromising product safety. Even the smallest foreign objects, faulty seals, packaging tears, or deviations in product weight are automatically detected and rejected – in real time and without interruption. Digital records and stored image data enable complete traceability and simplify documentation during audits.

A production line does not end with labelling. The steps that follow are just as critical for efficiency and quality. Bizerba offers solutions not only for label inspection but also for product handling. At the end of the line, a robot-based, customised case loading solution takes over packaging into secondary packaging and palletising. This not only increases efficiency and minimises manual effort, but also ensures that the goods are ready for transport.

Automatic Linerless Label Applicator PAS-I CleanCut

The PAS-I CleanCut masters both C-wrap and full-wrap labelling with ease. Thanks to the linerless CleanCut® technology, there is no need for backing material—resulting in zero percent liner waste. The longer roll length also significantly reduces the effort required for roll changes. And since fewer changes mean fewer machine stops, production availability increases.

At the same time, the technology prevents the applicator blades from coming into contact with adhesive. This saves time during cleaning and reduces maintenance requirements. CleanCut® linerless labels are recyclable and ensure high-quality product presentation at the point of sale—fast, precise, and environmentally friendly.

Global Fight Against Food Waste
According to studies, up to one third of all food produced worldwide ends up as waste each year. This alarming figure is a growing concern not only for consumers, but it is also climbing the agenda of both the media and policymakers – especially in light of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12.3, which calls for halving global food waste by 2030. One of the key levers in this effort is the deployment of modern technology across the entire value chain.
